For those of you who thought Google Plus was one social media platform too many, chalk this up as a win for you. Google Plus ends officially in August 2019. While users did not interact much on the platform, it was important for a business to have a Google Plus account. Even if the business posted and failed to get much traction with users, simply having an active Google Plus account helped with your search engine results.
While Google Plus prepares to unplug and log off for good within the year, your business should not abandon Google platforms entirely. It is presumed that Google My Business will stick around and factor even more heavily into your search engine result rankings. Like Google Plus, My Business is a free listing that displays crucial details regarding your company, like hours and reviews. My Business does not require you to post multiple times a week. Instead, it lets you write a note and keeps it live for a week. Your note is pinned to your listing, and it is one of the first things people see when they search for your business. Your note can be any call-to-action, such as a link to call to schedule an appointment or click to your website for more info. Phone calls and click-throughs improve your Google ranking, making these notes quite important. Once the week is up, you can publish another note to take its place and keep your good performance going.
Now if you have an upcoming event, you do not need to post often to keep the note pinned. Instead, you can make the note an event. This helps the note stay live until the event ends. That way if you schedule the event a month in advance, you can post about it once and accumulate data without needing to worry about re-posting.
Your note does not even have to be written content. If your business has a great new ad, then you can upload the video. The video then stays pinned for the week. This also serves your ad directly to the people searching for your business. It will be one of the first things they see when looking up your company online!
